WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and optimize CNC machining processes for aerospace components (milling, turning, grinding)
- Create and maintain process documentation and standard work
- Select tooling, cutting parameters, and work holding solutions for tight-tolerance parts
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from prototype through production
- Conduct root cause analysis for dimensional, surface finish, and quality issues
- Improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and increase machine utilization
- Perform capability studies (Cp, Cpk) and statistical process control (SPC)
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100
- Collaborate with programming, quality, and production teams
- Support capital equipment purchases and machine validation
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in precision CNC machining (aerospace preferred)
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Experience working with tight tolerances (±0.0005" or tighter)
- Knowledge of machining aerospace materials (Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum alloys, Stainless Steel)
- Familiarity with SPC and quality systems
NICE TO HAVE
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks)
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- Experience with process validation and FAI documentation
- APQP or PPAP experience
KEY SKILLS
- Process optimization
- Tooling and fixturing design
- Root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why)
- Continuous improvement
- Technical documentation
- Cross-functional collaboration
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Precision machining and aerospace manufacturing facility
- Exposure to machine shop environment (coolant, metal chips, noise)
- Use of measurement equipment (micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators)
